How do I go about getting financing?

If you will be financing your home, check with your lender. They'll tell you how much they will loan you. This only takes ten minutes and all you have to do is ask them if they will loan you the money. This is called pre-approval. We can also refer you to a national mortgage company that some of our customers have dealt with. They specialize in financing log homes. The lending institution can also give you an idea of your monthly payment.

How warm is Golden Eagle Log Homes full log wall?

Full log walls offer thermal mass, which is a way of storing energy from the furnace or air conditioner. The log wall stores energy like a battery and releases it slowly. Golden Eagle Log Homes full log homes are very energy efficient. They are as energy efficient as a 2”x6” wall but on paper the 2”x6” wall with split log has an approximate R-factor of 23 which sounds really good and is, but then when we tell you our 8” log wall has an R-factor of 10 that does’t sound so good, but it is. Solid log homes must be evaluated by a different criteria than just R-factor.

Do you kiln dry your logs?

Yes we do both Kiln and Air Drying. The majority if what we do now is air dried 12 to 24 months. In spring of 2008 we have a new kiln coming online so we anticipate we will have more kiln dried product than air dried in the near future.
