I hear Golden Eagle Log Homes are more maintenance-free than other log companies. How come?
The big thing is we use your choice of forest green or brown steel fascia and aluminum soffit as a standard on our homes. When we first started selling log homes we noticed the other log home companies were using cedar fascia and knotty pine tongue and groove for soffits, so we did too. Then we watched how fast, in as little as 6 months, the fascia started to get weathered. So, we decided to switch to maintenance-free and 98% of all our customers stay with the maintenance-free fascia and soffit. Of course if the customer would like wood we could still do that. The other thing we offer standard is maintenance-free aluminum clad windows and patio doors on the outside, with real pine on the inside. Also, while we are talking about windows, the glass has warm edge technology and is Low-E argon gas filled glass, very warm.
My friend told me my log home is going to settle 4 inches. Is that true?
No, your Golden Eagle log home will only settle about 3/8 of an inch. We are using very dry logs, so settling is not an issue. Tell your friend you are not buying a handcrafted log which will settle 3”-4”, but a Golden Eagle Log Home that does not have the settling issues.
